2013 – Slipper Drive
In 2011, at age 5, Hannah Huckfeldt earned her angel wings after a long battle with cancer. Several months later, her best friend Lilly was admitted to Phoenix Children’s Hospital (PCH) for a blood illness. Ironically, Lilly was a patient in the same hematology/oncology clinic where Hannah was also a patient.
While a patient at PCH, Lilly noticed the other children didn’t have slippers; some children were barefoot, others wore hospital issued socks. Lilly, who wore her Hello Kitty slippers during her hospital stay, wanted all of her new friends to have a warm, comfy pair of slippers. After Lilly’s release from the hospital, she decided to donate slippers to PCH in Hannah’s honor.
In 2012, Lilly and her friends received 1600 pairs of slippers via donation. Hannah would have been so proud- the children of PCH were so happy. Through the Hannah Huckfeldt Foundation, the slipper drive will continue annually. The goal for 2013 is 3000 pairs of slippers.
We need your help! If you would like to donate slippers, you may send slippers to us during the month of March at the following mailing address. We plan to deliver all donations to the hospital in late April, 2013.
Or, if you prefer a cash donation, all donations received via PayPal to the Hannah Huckfeldt Foundation, a 501c3 organization, during the month of March will be used to purchase slippers.
